The location of the hosts file in Windows Server 2016 is “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts”.
Edit The Hosts File
While it is possible for any user to read and view the hosts file, note that you will need administrative privileges in order to actually edit the file. This can be done by simply running an editing program like notepad.exe as administrator and then opening the hosts file up, making your changes and then saving them.
